Hi, I’m Gavin Bond, your local Kowhai Guy. I have been living on the Coromandel for over fifteen years and grew up in Matamata. After a visit to the Coromandel as a child, I knew this was the place for me.
I’m a keen hunter and fisherman and the Coromandel is hard to beat. Working as a painter when I first left school, was a great way to gain some work experience and painting knowledge. I soon decided to make the move to the Coromandel and it was then that I met the girl that became my wife. We have three kids and the Coromandel Peninsular makes a for a marvelous lifestyle.

Work was hard to find at first, being an unknown in a new area. I ended up commuting to Auckland for some time, working for a well established Auckland company. Travelling was hard, but I gained valuable experience working with two-pot paints and resins. I then joined a roofing company in Thames which I really enjoyed. My next move came about when I saw a Kowhai advertisement seeking a roofer / painter to look after the Coromandel area. I remember thinking to myself (I have to give this a go). After extensive training with the Kowhai team, we started up our advertising and has been just great for the past five years.
