Hi I’m John Snyman,
I came to New Zealand from Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) in November 2001, my wife Sue and our two children – Adam and Cari followed in the April of 2002. Our farm in Zimbabwe was 1000 acres of grain, mixed horticulture and livestock. My first job started off in Dannevirke on a dairy farm, where my son and I worked together milking 350 cows which was increased to 860 through a rotary milk shed. Sue worked at the local New World and Cari went to school.

We realised that children needed to meet other people their own age, so decided to move to Hamilton as we did know some of our own country folk here. Once in Hamilton I went into selling cars for 2 years.
In order for us to get residency it was advised that it would be better to start our own business. This we did together for 4 years until I heard of Kowhai and was offered the Waikato area. This was the opportunity I had been looking for, and have been running the region for 4 years. Sue assists with the office admin, and we are pleased to be building up a very worthwhile business together. We haven’t had too much time for other activities or traveling around the rest of New Zealand, although I can say that I know the Waikato area pretty well!
